Enugu Deputy Governor, Onyebuchi's impeachment nullified

Enugu High Court on Friday, December 18, nullified the impeachment of Enugu State former Deputy Governor, Sunday  Onyebuchi.

The impeachment which took place during the last administration on 26 August, 2014 removed Sunday Onyebuchi from office and he was replaced him with Rev. Ifeanyi Nwoye.

The former deputy Governor was impeached on the basis of gross misconduct for operating a poultry farm and refusal to attend two attend two public functions as assigned by the Governor.

The presiding judge at the High Court in Enugu, Justice R. Odugu who nullified the election ordered that the rights and benefits of the the former deputy be reinstated from the time of his impeachment till the end of the tenure.

The Judge also declared that the ownership of poultry farm and refusal to attend two public functions are not constitutional signs of gross misconduct in the performance of functions and that before one is to be accused of such offence the constitution must confirm it as a gross misconduct.

Onyebuchi on hearing the judgement of the court was grateful and said that he has forgiven all those who worked against as many had come begging for forgiveness and claiming that they were used.
