I keep wondering what's with the fire outbreaks this season. Starting from the Fire in a UNN Female Hostel, followed by the explosion in Nnewi, Anambra where many died and many left injured. Also another explosion in Asaba followed by another in Ibadan.
Hmmm. Another now in Port Harcourt.
If you recall, earlier there was also a fire outbreak in a Market in Abuja.
Rivers State governor, Chief Nyesom Wike sympathized with doctors and management of Braithwaite Memorial Hospital, Port Harcourt over the fire that blazed the doctor’s quarters of the hospital, yesterday.
The inferno which started from the top floor gutted the entire floor, remember the UNN Female Hostel outbreak? the top floor was destroyed by the fire.
Governor Wike sympathised with the doctors of the hospital saying,
"I want to sympathise with the doctors affected by this fire incident. We thank God that no life was lost".
“However, I have directed the Health Commissioner to set up a Panel of Inquiry to find out what led to the fire. If it is as a result of negligence, those involved will be sanctioned. We must endeavour to protect government property at all times.”
He also announced that the State Government will rebuild the part of the building that got burnt, after commending the efforts of the Firemen from the State Fireservice, shell and NPA who fought the inferno and prevented it from spreading.
