66 Soldiers escape death Sentence

72 Soldiers were earlier arraigned on several count charges that include criminal conspiracy, conspiracy to commit mutiny(attempt to commit an murder).

After the arraignment, 5 Soldiers were discharged and acquitted of these charges, 66 were discharged of some charges and found guilty of some count charges which led them to be sentenced to murder and the last Soldier was given 28-days imprisonment with hard labour.

After several thorough investigation as ordered by the Chief of Army Staff,
Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, these 66, instead of the death penalty, have been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment each.
