In a statement released and signed by its chairman, Joe Nze Etoh, and public relations officer, Chigozie Onwukwe, the World Igbo Congress (WIC) declared its opposition to any group’s use of force to pursue the goal of self-determination, but also warned the government against using force against people using peaceful means to agitate for their rights.
The group has urged the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the IPOB who has been held captive bt the Department of State Services(DSS) since October claiming that he has been held unjustly against his rights.
The WIC also reminded the Federal Government on the importance of the Igbos to Nigeria and the relevance of Biafra to the Igbos.
