The senate on Wednesday,December 2 after the news of the bill passed on social media users, have denied passing such a bill.
According to a statement by Bamikole, the Special Assistant on New media to the Senate President, a bill was passed, but the bill is titled "An Act to Prohibit Frivolous Petitions and Other Related Matters" and makes no mention of jailing social media users. Rather, the bill was passed to make illegal actions of all those who seek to tarnish the image or blackmail public servants or political office holders for their selfish purposes.
