In order to ensure free and fair elections on Bayelsa gubernatorial elections today, police troops have been sent to the state.
According to Asinim Butwat, the Police public relations officer, 14,000 troops of Police are in the state and also, he added that provisions for three other surveillance helicopters have been made.
It was also said that the AIG sent to the state will move in the company of Police officers to ensure safety of lives and properties.
On the Security situation, it has been added that vehicles, motorcycles, tricycles and boats fitted with 200 horsepower engine and above would not be permitted to move during the period. A curfew of 7am-7pm has already started on Friday and will run through Sunday.
Furthermore, the Inspector General of police, Solomon Arase had ordered the closure of transportation routes on roads, waterways, and the creeks in all of the 18 local councils of the state.
I hope all these are enough for a peaceful election in the state.
