Last week, a very controversial bill passed second reading in the Nigerian Senate. The bill titled: “Act to Prohibit Frivolous Petitions”,
This bill was brought forward to the house by Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, a member of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), representing Kebbi South.
Senator Bala said it is aimed at whoever makes “an allegation or publish a statement or petition in the newspaper, radio, or medium of whatever description against another person, institutions of government, or any public office holder.”
Senator Dino Melaye basically pin-pointed the likes of Saharareporters and asked the FG to write to the US Government concerning their false calling it a blackmail and a plot to intimidate the senate.
As for me and my household, the bill is not supported. Shikena
