Police officer sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for murder of fuel subsidy protester

Last three years, the then president, Goodluck Jonathan dropped a bombshell on Nigerians when on 1st January 2012, he announced the removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria.

Many protests were made, Many jokes were written as many Nigerians didn't expect such sad and very shocking new year gift from the president.

Yesterday, the police officer, Divisional Police Officer Segun Fabunmi who shot one of the protesters, Ademola Ade during the protest #Occupy Nigeria has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment after found guilty of murder. This murder occurred around 9am on January 9th 2012.

The defense counsel made an argument that the shot was unintentional but the Judge dismissed it and sentenced the defendant to 10 years imprisonment for murder and another five for injuries caused to other protesters.
Prior to his trial,  the defendant was removed from office.
