Suleman Rashid, A Kenya Senior Police officer in northern town of Mandera, revealed that on Saturday, Police men on patrol noticed about five suspected Islamic extremists from the Somalia Al-Shabaab group around the area.
The Police officers on noticing these activists started shooting at the rebels, when the rebels realised this, they panicked and detonated the bomb which ended up killing one of the activists.
The town of Mandera has experienced several attacks this month that officials has attributed to a group that has splintered from al-Shabaab, who are allied to al-Qaeda, and have instead pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group.
