Court Registrar sentenced to 10 years imprisonment

An Ikeja High court has sentenced one Mrs Oluronke Rosolu, a court registrar to 10 years imprisonment.

Mrs Rosolu was charged with aiding Fred Ajudua, a former Lagos socialite, to defraud former Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi of $330,000. The Court registrar was found guilty and convicted on all the two counts charge of conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretences brought against her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Oluronke, a mother of four on count one, was sentence to 10 years imprisonment and on count two  sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. The presiding judge, Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo ordered that she serve the jail terms concurrently.

Several arguments were raised by the defence counsel and also the prosecuting counsel, the defence counsel pleaded that the judge tamper justice with mercy as she's is a mother of four and a first time offender while the prosecuting counsel insisted that she serve the term required of the charges. The Judge in return stuck to the fact that the defendant should serve as an example as she has tarnished the image of the judiciary which she represented.

However, the defendant still pleaded not guilty and said she doesn't know any of the men involved.

What do you think?

Guilty or not Guilty?
