Boko Haram not defeated till Chibok Girls Are Returned

The #BringBackOurGirls group has stated that until the abducted 219 Chibok Girls have returned to their families, the nation cannot say that it has defeated the Boko Haram insurgency technically.
Speaking during the daily sit-out of the group yesterday, a member of the group, Olatunji Olarinwaju said it would be wrong for the presidency to assume or say it has defeated Boko Haram technically when the Chibok girls are still missing.

He noted that holding the president to his words while he was being sworn in as president on May 29, when he said the the Boko Haram group can only be defeated when the Chibok girls are rescued; it is only logical to keep demanding for their rescue.

“On inauguration day, the president said the insurgency must not have been won without the Chibok girls. So we are holding him to his words. The girls are not yet back. Though the frequency of attack has reduced, it is not a time for grand standing. We need to be sensitive to the Chibok girls’ parents and victims of the insurgency,” he said.

Also speaking, the chairman of Chibok community in Abuja, Tsambido Hosea-Abana, stated that the many camps of the Boko Haram sects have not yet been destroyed by the military and urged the military to work towards destroying the camps which will guarantee a pecaceful environment in the area.

“We still can’t move through Maiduguri to Damboa, we can’t move. They told us that the road will be open but still, nobody can ply that road. There are Boko Haram camps in some local government areas in Borno. And the military have not gone there yet,” he said.
