Fani-Kayode reacts to Buhari’s media chat

President Muhammadu Buhari hosted his first presidential media chat yesterday, December 30.

In the two-hour “media chat” with three journalists broadcast live on state television, Buhari answered questions on national issues from his fight against corruption, the whereabouts of the Chibok girls, to the recent Nigerian army-Shiites clash.

Buhari came to power after winning the March 28 presidential election, defeating the former president Goodluck Jonathan.

His party the All Progressives Congress promised Nigerians change and since he came to power, he has been trying to bring all those who looted the nation’s treasury to justice.

There has been much reaction to Buhari’s media chat which was held last night and many were impressed with the way the president truthfully answered the questions.

Femi Fani Kayode, the former minister of aviation, has also reacted and he is not impressed with President Buhari’s performance.

According to him, the president had turned himself into a judge and jury.

On his reaction, some supported this while others criticised him

Muslims react to Hijab ban

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) and also Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria have rejected Buhari's idea of the ban on hijab.
This was as a result of President Buhari's hint on the possibility of imposing a ban on hijab if bombings continue during his first Media chat on Wednesday, December 30.

Reports have revealed that both groups wondered why army and police uniforms have not been banned despite being used by gunmen and terrorists.

However, Saheed Ashafa, the amir of the Muslim Students of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit, expressed strong disagreement.

“If Hijab ban must be considered, then the government has to also ban use of vehicles, hand bags, cell phones, motorcycles and suits because more evils have been perpetuated through them. “

“It’s totally illogical to attach Boko Haram attacks to a dress code or pattern. Our Hijab is a garment of honour; it is an apparel of modesty and an outfit commanded to be worn by Allah,” he said.

According to Ashafaa, a ban on the religious garment is an attack on Islam.

“Just as it would be wrong for anyone to say that suits or vehicles should be banned because they are used to rob or assassinate and terrorise; it would also be unfair for anybody to consider Hijab ban because of its wrong usage,” he added.

Ishaq Akintola, the director of MURIC, has also raised his voice against the proposed ban, describing it as “escapist” and “scapegoatism”.

“It will open the floodgates of anarchy. Instead of solving Nigeria’s security problems, it is most likely to compound it.

“If army and police uniforms are not banned although they are often used by bandits, why should we ban hijab? Security agents know how they often fish out hoodlums who use police and soldiers’ uniforms to commit atrocities. The same method should be used to prevent the use of hijab for bombing,” he said.

The professor noted that without their hijab Muslim women feel as if they are absolutely naked.

Undoubtedly, the president’s comments on the hijab being banned have triggered mixed reactions abong Nigerians. However, most people think that banning of hijab will not solve the problem of Boko Harram attacks.

Buhari on the N5000 for Unemployed youths

During, the presidential media chat which held yesterday, December 30 from around  7pm to 9pm, the President made mention of the N5000 stipend for Unemployed youths promised during the 2015 elections.

President Buhari had this to say,

”When my VP is quoted, how can I disown it? We may have to send the young unemployed youth seeking N5k fee to farm to earn the money.”

He added “you know Nigerians, we are a very difficult lot.” When asked about difficulty in identifying the unemployed for cash transfers.

The Buhari administartion regretted that the payment could not take off now due to non budgetary provisions.

Davido continues to blast Sophia

Davido's reply to Baby mama Sophia, and A piece to her renowned uncle Dele Momodu.

See,

In 2015 May, I became the father of a love-child. DNA testing determined with maximum proof that I indeed was the father of my daughter, delivered by a head-butting casual lover, Miss Sophia Momodu.
I met Sophia when I was barely 21 years old. She was many years older than me and was able to manipulate and exploit my youth, naivety and generosity.Sophia is the mother of my daughter, and no more ! She never would be my wife and she was never qualified for that status. Her background is very dissimilar from mine, and she has very paltry education and equally diminished physical attributes.

Cunningly, she moved into my house because she claimed she has no place to stay in Lagos and that her father is late and her mother is resident in Abuja.
I have accepted what providence brought my way including my own personal indiscretions. But I also have been burdened by the gave lapses in the character of Sophia and have thus suffered for my daughter who I love as much as my late mother, Imade.
As for the person of Sophia, I paid a two year rent for her apartment at Lekki and she receives a monthly allowance of 300,000 naira from me ever since Imade was born. This December, Sophia received 500,000 naira as her Allowance and Christmas bonus.
On a routine hospital check, my daughter was found to be infested with massive dosage of poisonous cannabis that she contracted from the breast feeding regime of her mother’s breast. We still don’t know how much Imade was damaged by this toxic feeding and medical tests and procedures continue to rise and bemuse me and my family members.

Already, Imade has special needs and has been treated at the American Hospital,Dubai with all medical costs and travel expenses drawn off my personal purse ever sine she was born.
On December 29, Imade was supposed to travel, once more, to Dubai for further medical care. A family vacation was attached to this medical trip. But our family plan was truncated by Sophia, her uncle, Dele Momodu in the company of his wife, and all these persons were the significant accessory to the Lagos Airport debacle.
It is this incidence of December 29 that made implicitly  necessary to bring my family matter to the public domain. I agree, both parents have to give simultaneous approval to the travel plans of an infant. But I do not intend for Sophia to join me on this trip as if we are going away on a spousal honeymoon. It is also fair to allow her to come along if she could pay for the costs of her own trip.

Why must I bear medical expenses for my daughter as well as the travel cost of her mum, who is neither my wife nor a friend at all? By what authority or court documents was Dele Momodu enabled to stop my child who embarked on a medical trip that would improve her wellness. I David, the father of the child was already available to attend to the child’s care?  Which Agency of government, as claimed by Dele Momodu and his wife, issued the authority to deny my sister, myself, my daughter and my dad on a rightful travel plan? And what has been the financial stake of Uncle Dele Momodu over my daughter, ever since she was born.

I rented an apartment for his niece who is not my wife and I duly pay monthly charges. What has uncle Dele Momodu done for my daughter or even his niece?  Momodu family also wants me to buy a car for a woman who is not my wife and also an habitual and ceaseless night crawler who is unable and unwilling to mother or even bathe her own child?
I am 23 years old now. Sophia got me and appropriated me at 21. I have just unbridled my life from her diabolical and shameless stranglehold. She should find her own life and leave me alone. Her uncle too should help her to quit the streets and find her a career. I am not her meal ticket or ATM because she has a baby for me. I love Imade and would do everything to defend this innocent baby that is being abused by callous adults for extortion purposes.
As for me,  I feel bad that my dad, who had boarded Emirates and was already issued a boarding pass but was forced to elect not to travel anymore because his daughter and granddaughter were prevented from travelling on December 29 by the Momodus. The passports of my daughter and sister were impounded for no just cause. The airline has refused to give a refund because my dad was already allocated a seat and boarding pass. Calmly, he lost over One and half million naira for his First class ticket. What is the loss to Uncle Dele Momodu in this matter ? But more precisely, what is his gain ? But o know who the real losers are.

Our lawyers are looking into the books and digging for legal recompense. The authority used by Uncle Dele Momodu is the callous enforcement of corrupt practices in the conduct of an ordinary domestic issue. Uncle Dele Momodu has boasted about possessing certain things he knows about me and my family. I dare him to publish or perish whatever he has in his pouch, globally !

More drama check out Sophia's uncle #Dele Momodu on Instagram.

Nnamdi Kanu full Statement to Buhari, Igbo leaders

Vincent Obetta, Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer has confirmed the Statement written by his client but affirms that Kanu did not write a separate apology letter to President Muhammadu Buhari.

See the Full Statement by Nnamdi Kanu,

“Reference to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a terrorist, evil, and Paedophile is regrettable and uncalled for and for that I unreservedly apologize and will be doing so in a private letter to the President,” He wrote.

“I can confirm that I, Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra worldwide is a legally registered and duly recognized body at the United Nations pursuing the rights of a specific indigenous people, in this case Biafra, to seek self-determination according to the said charter the reason for the formation of the Indigenous People of Biafra is to avail those referring to themselves as Biafrans the opportunity made available as a result of the United Nations Declaration to seek the peaceful re-Birth of Biafra in line with international laws, lack of holistic development in the socio-economic landscape of Nigeria, lack of youth employment, corruption in high offices, and economic repression.

“Opportunities no longer existed for the majority of the people, and especially young graduates to find meaningful employment in the job market, general hardship, brutal repression of civil and human rights coupled with system that shuns inward investment contributed to the thinking behind the formation of IPOB.

“The People of Biafra all over the world have particular emphasis on those residing in the diaspora it is not advised that those in Nigeria contribute. No contribution is accepted from those in political office or from organizations only individuals belonging to those organizations may choose to contribute if they wish to the volunteer force. IPOB is a group of people who may wish to group themselves together for the purpose of Evangelism or going out to the streets to distribute leaflets and preach the message of lawful existence of Biafra as stipulated in the UN Charter. There is no armed conflict agitating and any reference to such is purely designed to stop the Nigerian Armed Forces ostensibly the police from coming out and killing innocent people.

The statement continues,

“IPOB volunteers are modeled on exactly the same tenet as the world renowned Salvation Army Front. Its ambitions are army but it does not carry any weapons. The same thing applies to the volunteers of IPOB. There is no arms training involved. I am the Director of Radio Biafra and solely responsible for the output the (genre?) of Radio Biafra is strictly to capture attention and imagination and not designed to incite anyone to violence.

“For very many years the Nigerian state and Nigerians in general have continued to witness poor economic management, fraud, corruption, and mismanagement of every sector of the economy. Therefore, as Radio Biafra programs were designed to wake up the public from their slumber and address the issues of the time, which is youth unemployment, lack of infrastructural provisions, poor electricity, an absence of rural development, and conspicuous absence of respect for human rights", Kanu added

“The area as envisaged as Biafra are predominantly South-East and South-South territories having cultural, linguistic, traditional, and commonality in value system. Reference to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a terrorist, evil, and Paedophile is regrettable and uncalled for and for that I unreservedly apologize and will be doing so in a private letter to the President. Before PMP there was the administration of Goodluck Jonathan I also said some uncomplimentary things about him and Igbo elders as well, which I now recognize should have happened because it is un-African to be rude or insolent to elders. All I was trying to do is draw attention to the problems afflicting society and what society is doing about it".

To conclude,

“The areas intended for the Biafran being espoused by Indigenous People of Biafra are Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Anambra, Bayelsa Delta, Edo (but only Igbamke), Kogi (only Igala), and Imo States. The mission statement of Radio Biafra is dedicated to the defences of the rights of the indigenous people of Biafra and ultimately the restoration of the REpublic of Biafra in line with United Nations Declarations on the Rights of Indigenous People

The Man Who Killed Tamir Rice. So sad

Timothy Loehmann had been out of work for five years. His luck changed in March 2012 when he landed a job as a police officer in Independence, Ohio. On his application, he cited having a “stable job” as one of his main motivators for joining the police force.

By December 5, 2012, Loehmann was no longer a police officer. The Independence Police Department has stated that Loehmann’s employment lasted a total of five months. Four out of those five months were spent in the police academy. Loehmann had spent only a month as an official police officer before his alarming misconduct became too much of a liability for the Independence police force.

According to Loehmann, he voluntarily resigned. According to the Independence Police force, he quit before they could fire him.

In five short months, Loehmann was deemed “emotionally unstable” and unfit for service as a police officer. In his personnel records, his direct supervisors described him as having a “lack of maturity” as well as an “inability to perform basic functions as instructed.” These supervisors were referring to the disturbing behavior Loehmann exhibited during a weapons training session.

Loehmann’s worrisome conduct and mental instability when handling weapons would become a reoccurring theme in his personnel files.

In another training session held at a gun range, Loehmann suffered what was described as an “emotional meltdown.” In a memo sent to Human Resources, Deputy Chief Jim Polak of the Independence Police Department referred to this incident as a “dangerous loss of composure.” Polak noted that Loehmann’s “handgun performance was dismal” and that he was “distracted and weepy” during the training session. After Loehmann’s weapons were taken away by the training officer, he continued his “emotional meltdown” with detailed descriptions of his apparent issues with a girlfriend.

Deputy Chief Polak’s memo included several additional incidents of worrisome misconduct. He concluded the memo with the following:

“Individually, these events would not be considered major situations but, when taken together, they show a pattern of a lack of maturity, indiscretion, and not following instructions.”

“I do not believe time nor training will be able to change or correct these deficiencies.”

In March 2014, after spending two years being denied by every police force he applied to, Timothy Loehmann received an offer from the Cleveland Police Department. They did not check his personnel files.

A few months later, on November 22, 2014 at 3:30 PM, Loehmann shot and killed a 12 year-old child named Tamir Rice.

He will not face charges.

Cute.

Buhari hosts media chat. See all that was said by PMB

The president has very often been blamed for disclosing his biggest moves to foreign rather than Nigerian media. Now the things have changed. Read how it happened, minute by minute:

21.00 The first media chat has finished. Thanks for being with us.

20.59 “Please ask your colleagues to do more investigative journalism, so the people know the truth,” Buhari, in his last words, addressed journalists.
20.58 The president speaks on Biafra issue: “Why does it have to worry me, when I have militants of all kinds, Boko Haram and etc.

“The question is, who marginalised them (Biafra agitators)?”

20.57 “You want people who stole N50 billion to be granted bail to go to London when we have 2 million IDPs in camps?” – President Buhari continues.

20.56 Buhari’s answer: “DSS disobeyed court orders, people got legitimate bails from courts, and they are still being held. It’s due to atrocities they committed. They go against the country, and you expect them to jump bail? The one we are calling ‘Kanu’ he has two passports, he brought equipment. Do you know Kanu brought in sophisticated weapon into the country, there’s treasonable felony case against him.”

20.55 “Are you not worried about Kanu?” the journalist asked the president.

20.51 President Buhari answering questions from Kayode Akintemi, Ibanga Isine, Ngozi and Mannir Dan Ali.

20.50 “The standard of tertiary institutions is really poor, I don’t want students sitting on windows to take lectures,” Buhari answers the question on tertiary institutions from Twitter.

20.49 One more round of questions from journalists (the panel) is expected.

20.47  Buhari continues: “We will look into the students already in school to be able to use their Master Card Debit/Credit cards abroad.”

20.45 “We may have to send the young unemployed youth seeking N5k fee to farm to earn the money,” the president suggests.

20.44 On N5,000 monthly, Buhari says: “When my people have been quoted, how can I come here and say otherwise?”

20.43 The president further answers on minimum wage: “I cannot answer the question of 18 thousand minimum wage, now and the federal government will not touch that. The federal government will not touch minimum wage.”

20.40 “The Judiciary is a seating dock we need the police and other arms to take cases to them its unfair to blame the judiciary,” Buhari added.

20.39 “Those making the allegations would have to prove it,” the president says.

20.37 Nigerians ask what Buhari’s government will do with corrupt judges.

20.36 “We are not depending on debt, we are renegotiating with those who agreed to build infrastructure for us. Nigeria is not borrowing to fund the 2016 budget but renovating with creditors to build capital projects,” Buhari answers.

20.34 The question is: “How would the president respond to criticism of plans to borrow to fund a part of the 2016 budget?”

20.32 President Buhari answers first question from Twitter.

20.30 “I turned down a N400 million car proposal, the cars I have are good enough for 10 years,” Buhari says.

20.29 “The question of parastatals earning money, spending it and giving government the change will stop,” the president insists.

20.27 Nigerians are expected to send in their questions via twitter, using the hashtag #askbuhari.

20.26 “Who checks the National Assembly? After hesitating… the president says: “The judiciary.”

20.25 President Buhari speaks on 2016 budget. “I think I will use veto power to stop the national assembly from using N47 billion to buy cars.”

He continues that he will review N3.6 billion for BMW cars scandal. “I turned down a huge bill for vehicles, but I know we need some vehicles for foreign visitors.”

20.23 “The policy on foreign currency withdrawal cannot be lifted because the money is not there. A N100 billion goes to the National Assembly for transport allowances alone,” the conversation continues.

20.19 “The change is in the TSA.”

20.18 The conversation moves to the questions on change – the slogan of Buhari during the presidential campaign. The interviewer asks: “What has changed?”

20.16 “We had 42 ministries, with 42 permanent secretaries. We had to cut them to 24 and asked some to go,” he continues.

20.15 “Fashola was not made a super minister for nothing. The issues associated with power which will take time, will be answered. He added that government is looking at different means of generating power,” President Buhari answers.

20.14 Question: What is the president’s understanding of job creation? And what was he thinking when the decided to make Fashola the minister with three portfolios. What was the president’s vision for him?

20.11 He continues: “Our priority is to get our local refineries working, to reduce cost. The cost of petrol is so low, you don’t have to subsidize it.”

20.10 “By the end of next quarter, we might stop subsidy. I hope that our refineries can be functional,” Buhari states.

20.09 “Our first priority now is to get our refineries working,” he says.

20.07 The president being asked: “Are you considering putting a stop to the issue of subsidy?”

20.06 On the issue of people being unable to withdraw hard currencies, the Nigerian leader says: “I will ask the governor of the Central Bank. Those who want to import rice and toothpick should go somewhere else to get foreign currency.”

20.04 “Our priority is for welders, barbers, building our roads and railways, not rice and expensive textile wears,” the president says.

20.02 “But Mr.President would you support the devaluation?” The answer from Buhari: “If you devalue the naira, against what? Against the dollar, sterling, yen, dutch? I need to be convinced about devaluing the Naira. We are importing including toothpick!”

19.59 “Insecurity, downturn of petroleum are very unfortunate incidents in this country,” Buhari continues.

19.58 “There are 45 accounts in NNPC alone. We introduced the Treasury Single Account so that we can know what comes in and goes out.”

19.57 “I don’t support devaluation,” the president says.

19.55 Buhari answers on naira devaluation issue. “Should we be looking at devaluing naira?”

19.52 “When I say Boko Haram had been defeated technically, we have weakened capacity for conventional attacks” – Buhari.

19.51 “People die, it’s very serious. Hijab will have to be banned if this (female suicide bombings) continues,” the president says.

19.50 Question: Is banning hijab an option or not?

19.49 The interviewer asks about the Boko Haram deadline. “Can you say whether the war has been ‘technically’ or otherwise won?”

19.48 Last question on security and the next subject comes.

19.47 Another question for Buhari: “Who would you be expecting the report of the Shi’ites’ killings from?”

19.46 “The President of Iran spoke to me about it and I told him as a government, we have a system. I am awaiting the report of the military,” Buhari says.

19.45 “I don’t want to speak about it in detail now,” the president continues.

19.43 Both the president and interviewers avoid giving names: “When it (clashes with Shiites in Zaria) happened in the state (Kaduna), the governor (Nasir El-Rufai) was visiting the area,” Buhari.

19.41 The conversation moves to the confrontation between the army and the Shi’ia sect, and its similarities with the start of the Boko Haram insurgency.

19.38 The president says he has money to take care of the IDP’s and he wants to settle the kids in schools/communities. His words: “We are determined to resettle children transported across the country as a result of insecurity.”

19.37 Buhari says the Boko Haram victims are orpharned and Dangote, Danjuma have donated.

19.36 President Buhari speaks also on the IDPs. He stated that there are about two million IDPs in the country, especially in Borno state.

19.35 “Do we have any intelligence that the girls are alive? No credible information. Working with Chad, Niger and Cameroon. Boko Haram kept shifting them around,” Buhari said.

19.34 Question: “Are you sure the girls are there and alive?”

19.32 The president continues: “Some supposed leadership wanted to make contact, but we insisted on identifying the leadership of the so-called Boko Haram.”

19.29 “I have answered questions on Chibok girls and we know so far from our attack on Sambisa that the girls are not intact. We are more than willing to negotiate to free the girls without compromising our national security,” he responds.

19.28 The next question comes: “On Chibok girls and technical defeat of Boko Haram, when are we bringing the girls back?”

19.27 “My ministers must make sure they declare their assets, that is a constitutional requirement,” President Buhari says that any person would go to court if he or she to be found guilty. “I am going to make sure that nobody is above the law.”

19.26 Buhari seems to be a bit annoyed, or even angry.

19.25 “Nigerians to know progress of the anti-corruption war by end of 1st quarter of 2016,” the president continues.

19.22 “When I was being harassed, I told people that I had declared my assets four times. I mentioned which banks I borrowed money, the number of cars and all they were all deposited at the ministry of justice. If they cannot produce the documents that I declared, they should also answer questions on documents of public officers,” the Nigerian leader says.

19.21 Question: “When do you intend to make full declaration of your assets?”

19.19 Buhari answers: “I have said that I will defend every property of Nigeria. We are appealing to countries to please cooperate with us.”

19.16 “How long are you willing to go in this fight against corruption?” the journalist asks the next question.

19.15 “We have to be very sure of the documents we get. We have to cross check records. I have confidence in the way EFCC and ICPC are structured now,” Buhari added.

19.11 The next question is “What we have now is an iceberg, and I am just wondering is there no way to rejig ICPC and EFCC?”

19.09 Buhari continues: “Money has been recovered but whatever has been recovered, we have to remain in court.”

19.08 “Under whatever circumstances we cannot pre-judge what the court would do,” President Buhari.

19.07 KayodeAkintemi: “Who are the people that the government claimed have returned money and how much have they returned?”

19.06 “We are taking the people suspected of corruption to court. We cannot comment. We want Nigerians to be patient,” the president says.

19.05 Buhari answered: “We are doing quite well. We have some documents where Nigerian crude oil were lifted illegally and proceeds diverted into personal accounts.”

19.04 “And the first question. Nigerians very love you. You are the man of integrity. You were elected on the promise to fight corruption. The honeymoon is over how do you think we are doing with the fight against corruption?”

19.02 Kayode Akintemi of Channels TV, the anchor of the chat, welcomed President Buhari and introduced his colleagues.

19.00 All eyes on Mr. President, as the media chat begins.

18.45 Garba Shehu, the special adviser on media and publicity, says that Nigerians can participate in the discussion on social media by using the hashtag and also mentioning President @MBuhari.

Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesman, announced in statement that Buhari intended speak on current national issues on December 30, 2015. Some of the biggest challenges Nigeria is facing now are the Boko Haram insurgency, failing economy, war against corruption etc.

The announcement was met with mixed feelings. While a lot of Nigerians welcomed the idea, others took the opportunity to start asking the president about the victims from the supposed army/Shiite clash, while some were asking for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the acclaimed leader of the IPOB.

Comedian Bill Cosby charged with sex crime

Narrowly beating a statute of limitations deadline to file charges, prosecutors in Pennsylvania announced felony sexual assault charges against comedian Bill Cosby on Wednesday. A former Temple University employee says Cosby drugged and assaulted her in January of 2004.

Montgomery County, Pa., prosecutors have charged Cosby with three counts of aggravated indecent assault. The charges against him are second-degree felonies.

"These charges stem from a sexual assault," according to prosecutor Kevin Steele, who said the assault occurred at Cosby's house in Cheltenham, a Montgomery County township that's just outside Philadelphia.

Steele urged any other victims to contact his office.

Update at 2:40 p.m. ET: Victim's Lawyer Issues Statement

Attorneys for the woman who says she was abused have issued a statement thanking the district attorney's office and police, adding that because the case is ongoing, they won't comment further.

Update at 2:50 p.m. ET: Cosby's Bail Set At $1 Million

Cosby was arraigned on the sex assault charge Wednesday afternoon, and his bail set at $1 million.

Bobby Allyn, from member station WHYY, reports that Cosby has been ordered to turn over his passport and to have no contact with the alleged victim. The preliminary hearing has been scheduled for January.

Our original post continues:

Over the past year, Cosby has been accused of sexually abusing dozens of women. Cosby has denied those charges, and earlier this month, he filed lawsuits against seven of his accusers, saying they had made up the claims to extract money from him.

When NPR's Scott Simon asked Cosby about the allegations against him during a November 2014 interview, the comedian refused to respond, shaking his head in silence.

Pennsylvania has a 12-year statute of limitations on felony sex crimes, meaning prosecutors had until January to bring charges against Cosby, 78.

Under state law, aggravated indecent assault has a range of definitions, from having sexual contact with a person without their consent to doing so after an attacker has "substantially impaired the complainant's power to appraise or control his or her conduct by administering or employing, without the knowledge of the complainant, drugs, intoxicants or other means for the purpose of preventing resistance."

After the Temple employee, Andrea Constand, accused Cosby of sexually assaulting her in 2004, a Montgomery County prosecutor decided in 2005 that charges weren't warranted in the case. But that prosecutor lost his re-election bid last month to Steele, who made pursuing charges against Cosby an issue in his campaign.

On Wednesday, Steele outlined a timeline of events in 2004, saying Cosby established a friendship with the victim and then made sexual advances that were rejected. After that, Cosby urged her to take pills and drink wine, Steele said.

According to the criminal complaint filed Wednesday, Constand "considered Cosby, thirty-seven years her senior, to be a mentor, and described instances in which he invited her to his home for dinner, invited her to restaurants, invited her to events, introduced her to people, and provided her with guidance and career advice."

The 2005 investigation into Cosby led to a deposition in which Cosby admitted that he had, as the Two-Way reported, "obtained the sedative Quaalude with the intent of giving the drug to women with whom he wanted to have sex, and he acknowledged giving it to at least one woman."

That testimony became public this past summer, prompting new calls for charges against Cosby. Announcing the charges Wednesday, Steele said the decision was made after "new information" came to light in July.

Cosby gave his deposition in the course of a civil trial, before he and Constand reached a settlement over her lawsuit against him.

As part of their deal, the two sides signed a confidentiality agreement — but the records were unsealed at the request of the Associated Press, in part because the judge in the case said he regarded Cosby as something of a public servant who can be expected to forfeit some privacy protections, as Eyder reported for the Two-Way.

We'll note that while NPR doesn't usually identify people who say they're the victims of sexual assault, we've done so in this case, because Constand has taken a public stand on the case.

7 things that can ruin a relationship

Infidelity can ruin relationships. But as clinical psychologist and life coach, Dr Kanan Khatau aptly says, “Trust in all spheres including loyalty, finances and commitment are equally important to keep the bond strengthened. It is important to identify cracks, other than betrayal, in your relationship.” Here are seven ways to see red and hit the alert button.

– Confiding in others
Opening up to friends or family about your partner’s annoying habits may seem harmless, but there is a fine line between how much of personal information you reveal to others. The complaints should never seem like you are ridiculing your partner. This can further lead to an emotional affair, if you are confiding in someone who you are also attracted to. Says Dr Pavan Sonar, consultant psychiatrist and counsellor, “Your relationship with your partner or spouse has to be the most intimate and private relationship in your life. If you are sharing mutual love, care and happiness, it is your partner who deserves to know about your feelings and not some other person. Considering that your partner has a private life and trusts only in you, sharing too much information with outsiders amounts to betrayal, leading to your partner feeling inadequate, sad or frustrated.” Keeping secrets always backfires since even if your spouse never finds out what you said, it creates coldness between you.

– Being manipulative
There are times when you may feel that you are not in the right relationship and your partner is not perfect. Instead of a direct approach, your partner may sweet talk you into making lifestyle changes. It takes time to realise this kind of betrayal, since it is masked with well-meaning gestures. Deep down if you feel that your partner is being manipulative and trying to bring about a personality change in you, it is your right to confront your partner. You may bring about changes, only if you are comfortable with them.

– Hiding addictions
Various addictions (like smoking, alcohol, drugs, food, phone addiction or even workaholism), act as major factors of breaches in trust. Marketing executive Mukund J (name changed) was a chain smoker and his live-in partner Raina M, was unhappy with it. After many promises of kicking the butt, Raina was in for a shock one night when she caught him smoking in the common garden area of their complex. “It was a lifestyle change suggested by a doctor and I was worried about his health since I wanted to take our relationship to the next level. Even after I caught him, I didn’t see any remorse. So, I convinced him to visit a health advisor for rehab and a relationship counsellor to salvage the relationship.”

– Emotional cheating
Remember, sometimes emotional affairs with someone outside the relationship can be more painful than sexual encounters. With social media playing a major role, many feel seriously betrayed by their partner’s intimate connection on the Internet. While those who indulge in emotional affairs may see no wrong since they are not having sex with the person online, the secrecy of the relationship is enough to cause feelings of betrayal. One of the main reasons behind such affairs is lack of intimacy in relationships. There also might be those who are obsessed with personal late night chats online. Gathering enough proof to confront your partner if you doubt him/ her is the first step towards solving this problem.

– Financial cheating
Homemaker Rina K (name changed) was in the habit of shopping online without informing her husband. However, when it came to light eventually, the couple had a major row. “We were struggling with our EMIs and my husband thought that it was wrong on my part to indulge in shopping. For me, shopping was a stressbuster for the financial stress we were in, but I didn’t realise it would spell such big trouble since he is the earning member.”

Financial infidelity can have a negative impact since it breaks down fundamental trust in the relationship. According to Dr Kanan, “Love and respect share the same wall. When in a relationship money is swindled, there is an obvious breach of trust, which can lead to a feeling of being cheated. This is perhaps a bigger betrayal than when one encounters a similar situation from the outside world.”

– Being selfish
When you always put your needs and wants first and ignore what your partner feels but he/ she is always concerned about you, be assured that the relationship is not going to survive for long. Your partner may be accommodating for a long time but after being taken for granted time and again, it will come to a point where they will be forced to demand equal attention to their needs. Step back and think about it if you want to save the relationship.

– Not standing up for your partner
Remember that your partner and you are a team who should stand up for each other. If you allow people to speak against or badly about your partner, it may come across as betrayal, which can ruin the relationship. Rather than having public confrontations, wait to speak to your spouse in private if you have a difference of opinion.

How to deal with betrayal
– Acknowledge it instead of denying it and pushing it under the carpet.
– Don’t blame yourself and think that it’s your fault.
– Admit it to yourself and gear up to express your feelings.
– Demand an explanation from your partner and be prepared to face the reasoning.
– Don’t hesitate to get professional help.
– You may be the one who was betrayed but be ready to take responsibility for issues from your side, which might have lead to the betrayal.
– If there is no solution in sight, be ready to let go.
– If you are the one who has betrayed, talk it out with your partner and apologise for your actions and the pain caused.
– After the showdown, if you still need to express feelings of rage, anger, unhappiness, emptiness or guilt, continue with your counselling sessions till you are fully ready to move on.

If you have been betrayed, be ready to handle these emotions

– Shock
– Denial
– Anger
– Sadness
– Anxiety
– Physical tiredness
– Depression
– Lack of self worth

Islamic States suffer as Ramadi falls, leaders killed

U.S.-led forces have killed 10 Islamic State leaders in air strikes, including individuals linked to the Paris attacks, a U.S. spokesman said, dealing a double blow to the militant group after Iraqi forces ousted it from the city of Ramadi.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi planted the national flag in Ramadi after the army retook the city center from Islamic State, a victory that could help vindicate his strategy for rebuilding the military after stunning defeats.

"Over the past month, we've killed 10 ISIL leadership figures with targeted air strikes, including several external attack planners, some of whom are linked to the Paris attacks," said U.S. Army Colonel Steve Warren, a spokesman for the U.S.-led campaign against the Islamist group also known by the acronym ISIL.

"Others had designs on further attacking the West."

One of those killed was Abdul Qader Hakim, who facilitated the militants' external operations and had links to the Paris attack network, Warren said. He was killed in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul on Dec. 26.

Two days earlier, a coalition air strike in Syria killed Charaffe al Mouadan, a Syria-based Islamic State member with a direct link to Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the suspected ringleader of the coordinated bombings and shootings in Paris on Nov. 13 which killed 130 people, Warren said.

Mouadan was planning further attacks against the West, he added.

Air strikes on Islamic State's leadership helped explain recent battlefield successes against the group, which also lost control of a dam on a strategic supply route near its de facto capital of Raqqa in Syria on Saturday.

"Part of those successes is attributable to the fact that the organization is losing its leadership," Warren said.

Miracle baby survive slipping from moving train

The Times of India reports that a pregnant woman on board 52204 Tankapur Izzat Nagar train at Bhojipura railway station went into sudden child labour and eventually gave birth to a baby girl inside the train’s toilet.

It was said that the new born baby slipped and fell on the tracks from the moving train, but survived the fall. The baby was quickly rushed to local hospital for medical attention.

Other passengers on board the train heard her crying for help and rush to her while the locomotive moves on. Getting to her, they discovered her bleeding seriously, while she kept telling them to stop the train. Some of the passengers reportedly pulled the alarm chain and the train stopped. Some of the passengers discovered the baby and found out that she was still alive.

The baby and her mother were quickly taken to a close primary health centre (PHC) after the Government Railway Police (GRP) was informed of what happened. The victims are said to be receiving treatment from a team of doctors, including PHC in charge Dr Saurabh Singh.

A joyous miracle.

Nnamdi Kanu apology, "A blatant lie"

Prince Kanu, the brother of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu has called the apology from his brother according to reports 'A blatant lie'.

In his exclusive comment to Naij.com, Prince said the report is an attempt to call bluff all effort to get justice for his brother.

“That is blatant lie, when and how? Where did the person see him to get the apology from?” Prince wondered.

He added that the articled as published by Punch is an attempt to sell their newspaper.

“I will put it as Punch’s propaganda, a Lagos-Ibadan expressway propaganda to sell their papers,” he said.

"The brother of the embattled Radio Biafra boss also noted that report on his brother’s apology was weird.

“It is a very strange, a weird report, because I have been in communication with my brother (Nnamdi Kanu) and as far as I am concerned he did not grant any interview to anybody and never made a statement apologizing to anybody.

“So, only God knows where the junk is coming from,” Prince said.

Kanu’s lawyer Vincent Obetta has also debunked claims that his client made such confessions.

He said the report was a propaganda by the Nigerian government, an indication that the government was trying everything possible to destroy Kanu’s defence.

The apology, the Punch reported, was contained in a statement which the 48-year-old pro-Biafra agitator made available to the DSS on October 23.

In the report, Kanu was said to have apologized to President Muhammadu Buhari for calling him ‘a pedophile’ among other things.

After being granted bail by a magistrate court and, subsequently, by a federal high court, Kanu is currently being detained by the State Security Service (SSS) over allegations of managing an unlawful society, unlawful possession of firearms and assisting in the management of unlawful society, all punishable under Section 27 (b) (1) of the Firearms Act CAP F28 and Section 63 of the Criminal Code Act, CAP C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

Efforts by Naij.com to reach Punch on the said article and the controversial statement made by Kanu were futile as at the time of filing this report.

Self-acclaimed Colonel Arrested in Ibadan

The Oyo state commissioner of police, Leye Oyebade, while parading a fake, Self-acclaimed colonel, 62 yr-old Babatunde Idris before newsmen in Ibadan, had this to say,

“Following a petition received alleging the fraudulent activities of Idris, the command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad swung into action and arrested the suspect, who until his arrest had fraudulently obtained various sums of money from his victims.”

“The suspect promised his last victim, Mustapha, that he would help him to get a certificate for oil importation since 2012, but failed to complete the deal after the money was paid into his account,” The CP said.

The Self-acclaimed colonel was said to have in his possessions forged letter heads of the Nigerian Army which he uses to carry out frivolous crimes soliciting for help from individuals and corporate organisations. He even used a fake identity card to defraud one Yinusa Mustapha to the tune of N40m.

Yes. N40M

“He also had multiple identities under fake names all bearing the status of a colonel,” Oyebade continued.

On the other hand, Idris confessing revealed that he collected the money from his victim in installments, but denied that the money was up to N40m.

He said, "I collected N16m from him claiming to be a colonel in the army cos Mustapha wanted me to help him to collect certificate of oil lifting and because I knew people who could do it, I took the money from him, but the deal failed".

Things done for money.

Faleke to cause Chaos in Kogi State

Remember, The Kogi State elections.

The death of the APC flag bearer, now Late Prince Abubakar Audu, few hours to the announcement of the results of the election.

Remember the inconclusive result by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Remember the re-run election and the Crisis in APC that followed suit.

The crisis which involved the choice for the next APC candidate for Kogi State Governorship election.

Remember the crisis of Abiodun Faleke and Yahaya Bello.

The choice which was finally decided by the court, Yahaya Bello.

The election and the defeat of Idris Wada by Yahaya Bello who is now the Governor of Kogi State.

Going back to the issue of Yahaya Bello and Abiodun Faleke.
Faleke even after Bello's win remained adamant that he will not accept to be Bello’s running mate as according to him, he was supposed to be the next candidate after the death of Audu.

Well, currently, a group known as the 'Kogi United For Justice' has allegedly accused Hon. Abiodun James Faleke of planning alongside his supporters to cause chaos in Kogi this current administration especially during the January 27, 2016 swearing-in.
