A goalkeeper who played for Kaduna United and also Enyimba has been reported to have passed away following an illness. He was said to pass away few hours into the new year.
Chinedu Agwu, was a great penalty kick stopper as second choice goalkeeper, when Kaduna United upset Enyimba in a penalty shootout to win the Federation Cup in 2010, which later earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles that same year.
Former teammate of the late Agwu at Kaduna United, Balogun Kayode, said he was aware of the illness but has not been informed on his death.
In 2015, former Heartland and Kano Pillars forward, Abdul Haruna, died after collapsing on the pitch during a friendly football match between Kano professionals and a selected amateur team in Kano. He was 27 years old.
What a sad loss. R.I.P Mr Chinedu Agwu.
