"I want to share this award with all the First Nations peoples represented in this film and all the indigenous communities around the world,” he said during his acceptance speech, in which he gave a nod to director Alejandro González Iñárritu, who won Best Director for his turn. “It is time that we recognize your history and that we protect your indigenous lands from corporate interests,” DiCaprio shared.
