Governor Ugwuanyi appoints new Caretaker Chairmen for the LGAs in Enugu

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Governor of Enugu State has appointed Caretaker chairmen for the 17 local government areas in the state.

This came after the tenure of the previous Caretaker Chairmen came to an end on January 4, and the APC, which is the opposition party in the State pressured against the era of Caretaker Chairmen and asked that elections be conducted.

Meanwhile, Governor Ugwuanyi during the inauguration of the new Chairmen stated that these appointed Caretakers
must live within their respective local government areas.

The governor stressed that he would not tolerate a situation where they administer their councils from Enugu metropolis, or any other part of the country.
Saying, “The era of running local government areas from hotels is over in Enugu State".

He also informed the caretaker chairmen that the people of the state are expecting results from them.

In the same vein, thanked the immediate past chairmen and councillors for the services they rendered during their stay in office, and wished them well in their future endeavours.
