Aspiring Rapper dies a hero. Very Heroic Story

Stephen Hewitt-Brown, 25, is being hailed a hero. He gave his life saving a woman from a falling elevator in an apartment building in NYC on New Year’s Eve.

Hewitt-Brown, who lives in the Bronx, was on his way to a New Year’s Eve party when Erude Sanchez (43), and her 10-year old nephew, started to enter the elevator. He noticed the elevator was about to move without the doors closing, so he pushed her out. But as Hewitt-Brown tried to leave the moving elevator, he got stuck in the gap between the elevator and the door.

Manuel Coronado, a witness, and Hewitt-Brown’s girlfriend were among those who saw him shouting for help stating, “I can’t breathe!” There are conflicting reports with regards to response time, but the New York Daily news reports that after Coronado and other residents called 911, help did not arrive for at least 20 minutes, despite the fact that the 7th Precinct Station was a block away. “We called and they took a long time to come,” says Coronado. “It’s a block away. I don’t know why they didn’t come to help.”

Coronado attempted to free him, “I tried to pull him out, but the weight of the elevator just crushed him. There was no hope.” Hewitt-Brown finally said “Leave me here.” As they desperately watched and waited for help, Hewitt-Brown wished them all a “Happy New Year.”

Brown was unconscious and suffering from severe trauma by the time he was finally rescued and rushed to New York Hospital. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he died from his injuries.

R.I.P to this young man, Stephen Hewitt-Brown.
