Pope Francis arrival in Uganda

The pope on his second leg of his three-nation Africa tour arrived in Uganda on Friday and was warmly received by the people.
Shortly after landing the central town of Entebbe on the shores of Lake Victoria, He congratulated the people on their hospitality to him and had this message for them,

Here in East Africa, Uganda has shown outstanding concern for welcoming refugees, enabling them to rebuild their lives in security and to sense the dignity which comes from earning one's livelihood through honest labour," he expressed.

"Our world, caught up in wars, violence, and various forms of injustice, is witnessing an unprecedented movement of peoples," the 78-year-old pontiff said.

"How we deal with them is a test of our humanity, our respect for human dignity, and above all our solidarity with our brothers and sisters in need."

"Although my visit is brief, I hope to encourage the many quiet efforts being made to care for the poor, the sick, and those in any kind of trouble. It is in these small signs that we see the true soul of a people," Pope Francis pointed out.

"My visit is also meant to draw attention to Africa as a whole, its promise, its hopes, its struggles and its achievements. The world looks to Africa as the continent of hope."

Uganda received this message of hope as the pope referred to Africa as a "Continent of Hope".
